The Iron Mountain Mission
Iron Mountain Financial Planning, LLC was formed to help clients align their financial behaviors with their values so that they can focus on what truly is important in life – which, by the way, has nothing to do with money.
Brian’s Professional Story
After graduating from SDSM&T with a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Brian worked with Navistar on the now world famous “smiling bumper” found on Medium Duty trucks. His four years in Fort Wayne, Indiana working with unionized engineers was enlightening and cemented the perspective that life really is better in the West. A good friend connected him with mining company in Gillette, Wyoming, where he worked as a Maintenance Planner at one mine and a Maintenance Supervisor at another. Upon leaving the mines, a software consulting company reached out to him with an offer to travel North America visiting Mining and Transit companies training, implementing and customizing the software that he had become an expert in.
It was at the beginning of all this time traveling that Brian stumbled upon a podcast from a well-known financial coach that put them on the path to getting their financial lives in order. Brian buried himself in what he didn’t know at the time to be personal financial planning principles and mission including: cash flow management, managing debt, having the right types and amounts of insurance, traditional IRA’s, ROTH IRA’s, 401k investing, starting small businesses, real estate investing, managing taxes, business accounting and estate planning.
It was because they had put those financial principles and mission to work in their lives that they were in a financial position to pursue a path of helping others based upon mission, not financial benefits. Eight years later, Brian stepped off of the Software Consulting airplane for the last time to pursue his mission to help others as a Financial Planner in Rapid City, South Dakota.
He earned the CFP® (Certified Financial PlannerTM) designation in 2016 to formally learn the fundamental skills of comprehensive financial planning covering the topics of the Financial Planning Process, Cash Flow Management, Education Planning, Insurance, Investments, Employee Benefits, Tax Planning, Retirement Planning and Estate Planning.
Brian launched Iron Mountain Financial Planning, LLC to help you align your financial behaviors with your values so that you can focus on what is truly important in life – which, by the way, doesn’t have anything to do with money.
Find Your Financial Roadmap.Brian can help you develop a roadmap to get you from where you are to where you want to go — and then put it in action, making your money work for you to avoid behavioral mistakes.
Brian’s Personal Story
Brian met his wife Nicole when the two of them happened to make their way back to Gillette, Wyoming at the same time. They relocated to Rapid City, South Dakota in part to make Brian’s weekly travels as a Software Consultant simpler. It didn’t take long to realize that the Black Hills is where they wanted to stay and they made it a part of their personal mission to do so.
Ellie and Jackson joined the family on Flag Day, four years apart, and Dottie was added just after Christmas, 2017. Outside of Iron Mountain Financial Planning, LLC, you will find Brian spending time with his family, enjoying a ride on his motorcycle, camping, hunting or serving at his church.
