from the Desk of Brian Bickett, CFP®
This week’s economic article covers today’s Fed announcement of the quarter-point rate cut and commentary regarding guidance on future monetary policy.
While the Federal Open Market Committee lowered it’s benchmark funds rate by 25 basis points, two of the Regional Presidents voted against the reduction in rates and post-meeting statements seemed to indicate further reductions in December are unlikely.
This reduction in rates will likely hit those with money market funds and those shopping for CD’s as I would expect corresponding reductions in rates for both of these tools as well.

(Jeff Cox, CNBC) – This economic article covers today’s announcement by the Federal Open Market Committee to reduce its benchmark funds rate by 25 basis points. Two Regional Presidents voted against the reduction and the changes to the guidance seems to indicate that they will be less likely to cut rates further during their December meeting.
(Jiab Wasserman, MarketWatch) – This week’s retirement planning article walks the reader thru four insights that a recent retiree has experienced first-hand since retiring. It’s interesting to note that none of them mention the word money.
(Adam Grossman, HumbleDollar) – This investing article explores the rationale of Jack Bogle’s long-held belief that investors should not diversify their portfolios outside the U.S., contrary to Vanguard’s official position. The article also walks thru the contrarian viewpoint with which I strongly agree.
(Ollie Barstow, VisorDown) – I thought you would find this motorcycle industry article interesting because it covers the details of the recently revealed 2020 Indian Challenger which looks to be aimed directly at Harley-Davidson’s Road Glide.
