IRS Confirms Tax Season Will Start Jan 28
The IRS as confirmed that they will begin processing tax returns January 28th and pay refunds to taxpayers regardless of the government shutdown status. Some of those already lucky enough to work at the IRS will be recalled forcing them to work without pay.
Two other items to note in this article. The first is that the TCJA of 2018 has significantly changed the personal tax forms and, in the event that the government remains in shutdown status, it is unclear how many of the recalled workers will be in customer service to answer questions.
The second is that by November 23 of 2018, the IRS had received 154.4 million returns and issued an average refund of $2,899. What would you do with an additional $241 a month? I have some ideas…
Harley Davidson announced the price of their electric motorcycle Livewire (starting at $29,799) and has begun accepting orders. It will be interesting to see how the Livewire competes with Zero Motorcycles which has been producing comparable electric motorcycles for over a decade at a much lower price point (starting at $10,995).
