More John Bogle…

A little like when you suddenly see a lot of yellow Volkswagen Beetles on the road after talking with your neighbor about their new yellow Volkswagen Beetle, John Bogle’s philosophy, influence, and impact seem to continue to find me from what seems to be the most unconnected sources.   Common themes continue to appear in books, podcasts and articles from authors outside of the financial industry that I’m listening to now.    It almost seems like the subject of enough is now pursuing me.

Enjoy the ride of YOUR life!

The Things John Bogle Taught Us: Humility, Ethics and Simplicity

A New York Times article containing several individual’s stories of how Mr. Bogle impacted their lives.  Reoccurring themes include everything from humility to patience to confidence and boldness.

Millennials May Be Killing Harley to Save Motorcycling

UBS released a report last week from their recent study of 21 to 34 year olds attempting to determine why Harley-Davidson has been struggling so much.  Turns out the millennial’s who responded are looking for the same thing, in my mind, that current baby-boomers wanted when they were in their 20’s: practical and affordable bikes for ease of transportation – partly because many of them don’t have a lot of money.  Not exactly the current Harley-Davidson rider profile.

It’s interesting the see that the Motorcycle Industry council reports more households than ever in the US own a bike, even with the drop in sales of large, expensive cruisers.  I do applaud long-term efforts to introduce future motorcycle riders to the joys of riding.

Where’s Brian?

The Colorado Motorcycle Expo is this weekend, let’s hope the weather cooperates.
