John Bogle’s Timeless Wisdom…
John Bogle’s recent passing provides an opportunity to review not only his impact on the financial industry, but also his perspectives on the value of giving and his deep skepticism about the endless accumulation of wealth.
He penned the book “Enough. True Measures of Money, Business, and Life” just as the financial crisis of 2008 was unfolding. The last chapter is titled “What’s Enough For Me? For You? For America?”
I’ll pose the question to you – What is Enough?

John Bogle, founder of the Vanguard Group and father of the index fund, died last Wednesday at the age of 89. His impact on the individual investor is hard to be over-stated.
He launched the first index fund available to individual investors in 1976 and today roughly a third of the money invested in U.S. Mutual funds and exchange-traded funds tracks an index. He made investing cheaper, simpler, and more accessible than ever before, lifting the financial well-being of millions of people in the process.
Bogle’s net worth is estimated at $80 million, a relatively small sum for the founder of the world’s biggest financial institutions.
