Don’t give in…

The excitement is fading, complications are arising, and the soreness is setting in for the new year resolutions.  Don’t give up, don’t give in, the growing pains will be worth the gain.

Enjoy the ride of YOUR life!

Hospitals Now Required to Post Prices Online

In what I hope to be just the first step in helping individuals become more informed health care participants, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services are requiring hospitals to make their Chargemasters available online.

The chargemaster is simply a long list of hospital prices by procedure.  Here is a KOTA article describing Regional Health hospital’s chargemaster which is a 24,000 line item list of hospital services, listed by price.  I don’t think I need to point out that it is not as helpful as it could be.

The next step would be to either enforce formatting and structure requirements or to develop a national database.  Both would incur expenses to implement but it seems that a more informed health care participant would foster pricing competition – more than offsetting the administration costs.

Throwback to the Sno-Runner

Here’s an article from 2016 describing the history and restoration of the Chrysler Sno-Runner.  The Sno-Runner origins are still up for debate and Chrysler sold off the Sno-Runner segment to COMB liquidators who liquidated the inventory under the Sno-Rabbit name.  One could argue that it’s really a snowmobile, however it does have footpegs and a twist-grip throttle unlike modern snowmobiles and making room to classify it as motorcycle newsworthy.

Where’s Brian?

Outside of client work and meetings, I will be in Gillette Friday night for a basketball game and then to Custer on Monday for “The Best Burger in the Cul-De-Sac”.
